Here is a short update and an outlook for the $VSO replacement. 1. Soft launch is around the corner! It took a few more turns to get API approvals from Meta, but we now have a nicely integrated experience for Instagram users, a big deal for social commerce! In addition, we are also adding support for X/Twitter handles as part of this soft launch. This means, you can receive transfers with your X/Twitter handle, similarly to name services like Avvy or ENS. The difference is that these handles aren't restricted to transfers from a single chain, and they can also receive fiat payments (after you've done KYC). Can't wait to drop the curtain! 2. Concerning the replacement of $VSO, a new token will be introduced, and its official name, along with tokenomics and utility will be disclosed in January. The original plan was to distribute the new token through an airdrop, but this would have excluded over 30% of holdings kept on Gate.io and it would limit us to build a community around the new product, which has shaped up nicely now. Consequently, we have opted for an alternative approach that we believe will benefit all stakeholders and promote growth. Here is the gist of it: • There will be a trade-in of $VSO for $NewToken (1-for-1) with 100% unlock. • Existing $VSO holders qualify for additional 10% bonus of their trade-in amount when sending $VSO through the TransferMole app. • Existing $VSO holders qualify for additional 5% bonus of their trade-in amount when signing up with TransferMole app. • $NewToken will introduce a sales tax to prevent dumps and bots; the tax will be lowered daily over a predetermined period. Tax revenues will be allocated to the liquidity pool. • The snapshot taken end of June will entitle holders to an airdrop once the migration has been completed. Expect various other incentives along the journey. • More details will be announced together with the soft launch. We are ironing out some details and will follow up with a public announcement over other channels in the coming days as well.
